Helping MSPs see the wood from the trees.
The Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) is, perhaps not surprisingly, responsible to Scottish Ministers for advising on and implementing forestry policies. Through Forest Enterprise Scotland, it also manages public forests for the benefit of the public.
Forestry has a key role to play in helping to deliver many of the Scottish Government’s stated strategic objectives by using forests to improve health and wellbeing, grow the economy by developing a more efficient and competitive timber supply chain, by helping to tackle climate change and by helping to protect and enhance biodiversity.
Whitespace has worked with FCS to produce various critical print materials, from internal communication and strategy documents and most notably in creating numerous MSP targeted newsletters under the banner of ‘Forestry Matters’. These newsletters inform MSP’s of the ongoing work of FCS in all areas of practice. It is important that MSPs recognise and support the vital work of FCS, and so the materials we produce have to be both engaging and impactful, given that MSPs are flooded with communications.
It’s largely a political support role that Whitespace provides here, a good example being the collateral we produced for a reception event at the Scottish Parliament – highlighting the benefit of wood in the construction of buildings, under the title ‘wood CO2ts less’.
