There’s nothing cryptic about this

Working with an arts organisation as innovative and genre-blurring as (Theatre) Cryptic demands much more than an off-the-shelf response. This really is a company that prides itself in its creativity and was an exciting and challenging team to collaborate with; because as part of our commitment to supporting the arts in Scotland we became a sponsor of the company and this was used as part payment for our work.

Artistic Director, Cathie Boyd, founded Cryptic in Scotland in 1994. Since then, its innovative multi-media productions have established Cryptic as leaders in creating unique music performances. Since the outset Cryptic has engaged in the use of technologies on stage with a view to ‘ravishing the senses’ and that was something that inspired our thinking in creating a website that reflected its work on stage.

The original website was designed and developed back in 2005 and has served its purpose, it looked dated (as technology has progressed), it was, in effect, art for art’s sake, rather than a functional business tool to engage with new audiences and convert interest into bums on seats via third parties (the theatres in which Cryptic perform). So the brief demanded that the website should reflect Cryptic’s brand, appear cutting edge, clean and professional and make visitors feel like they are part of the wider Cryptic ‘family’.

The end product is certainly dramatic and the home page changes constantly as events unfold using images and videos drawn from Cryptic productions, making the site an intriguing and creatively rewarding experience.
