Our creative team aren’t developers who fancy themselves as designers, and they are not print designers who think they know geek. All have studied graphic design and communication at degree level, and all have been working on and offline for many years. As someone once said, idea is everything and media is anything. We believe this is vitally important. We don’t start with a basic website template which we then ‘colour in’ during the design stage. Rather, our creative work will meet your brief, whether it is for functional content-focused design, attention grabbing concepts or something in between. And because we aren’t just ‘web designers’ we appreciate brand guidelines and can create a seamless link between your off and online communications.

From microsites to big corporate intranets

We love web design because of the medium’s versatility. Some projects can be delivered with just one beautifully crafted page, others involve handfuls of templates which are then re-used by content management systems (CMS) to build huge sites, be they websites, intranets or extranets. And because we design over 50 websites a year we know what works well in each situation, whether we are building the site ourselves or passing it over to your in-house team or CMS partner.

Form follows function, it really does

Before designing the look or feel of your site we will consider who will use the site. We do this by creating user personas for your different audiences, for each of these we identify user goals – for example, specific content they will be looking to find, or an action they will be looking to complete. At this stage we organise the pages of your site into an information architecture which is then illustrated using wireframes. These are simple black and white versions of the key page, like an architect’s drawing of a building. By referring back to the user personas and goals we evaluate the information architecture and wireframes to ensure they will meet the needs of your audiences.
