Whitespace Marathon Madness

The Whitespace studio team overcame the heat and distance to complete both this year’s Half and Full Edinburgh Marathons on Sunday 23rd May.

Half Marathon

Kelly, along with a few friends, who had been training together for fitness and fun, decided in a moment of madness to take on the challenge of running the half marathon. They decided to run the event for charity, donating their sponsorship money to the Westerlea Centre. One of the friends has a little girl called Lois who attends the centre so they know first hand the great work they do. Westerlea Centre offers respite and support for children and families affected by Down’s Syndrome. The girls, calling themselves ‘Team Lois’ raised over £3000. You can find the donation page for the centre at www.justgiving.com/Marie-Mckenzie2.

Kelly turned in a fantastic first half marathon time of 2hrs and 22 minutes.

Marathon

Ricky, having competed in an eight mile section for the Whitespace Hairy Haggis relay team on behalf of the SSPCA two years ago, decided to find out if he could beat the 26.2 mile road course of the Edinburgh Marathon.

Having torn himself away from his preferred trail running and mud splashing events, little did he expect to have to overcome brain frying, tar melting temperatures in May and a muscle injury. But, with five litres of water and a ‘Last of the Mohicans’ determination, he fought on to complete the course in 4hrs and 51 minutes.
